Americans with disabilities may be the best workers no one’s hiring.  Businesses that hire individuals with disabilities report reduced employee turnover, increased employee loyalty, and increased morale and productivity of other employees. Yet workers with disabilities continue to face discrimination. For example, coworkers may resist having a disabled worker as a member of their team if the specific disability the disabled worker has would slow down a project. Employers are often afraid to hire  disabled workers because  of the potential costs of accommodations, discrimination lawsuits and other misconceptions that often have no basis in reality.  The best way to combat this injustice is by educating potential employers and staff members about the benefits of hiring disabled workers. Help SAIL (Self Advocates for Independent Living) of Coastal Carolina Inc. fund a program to end discrimination against disabled workers!
